Created in 2008, Free-Ed has grown into one of the
web's longest-running open education resources.
The goal of this emerging structure of education is not to pass
exams and to get
certified, but to grasp the essence of particular areas of knowledge
for a variety of purposes ... ideas that are meaningful and of awesome value.
Free-ed.net, with tens of millions of pages served globally, was built over the course of 20 years by a single individual. Since the founder's passing, the site
has been funded and maintained by family to keep his work available to learners everywhere. Free-Ed's founder, David L. Heiserman was self-taught and the epitome of life-long learning.
Despite not having a college degree, he authored over 40 books
and was a 1970s pioneer in the fields of AI / Machine intelligence, Robotics and Video Game system design. To learn more about this incredible journey please
